Brooklyn School
We found out that many of the soldiers on the Memorial went to our school before they fought in the war.
Brooklyn school opened in 1883. Back in that time Brooklyn School was in Vogeltown and was moved to its present larger site on Washington Ave in 1898. There were 190 pupils in 1891 and now there are 420.
Many school records and the honours board were lost in a fire in 1978 but we found the school’s early registration and attendance books in the Turnbull Library.
