Brooklyn School - Primary
Their Names Shall Live.
The Brooklyn War Memorial stands high on a hill overlooking our suburb of Brooklyn and has extensive views over Wellington Harbour. As part of the Living Heritage WW1 Memorial Site online, a group of 12 Year 7 students from Brooklyn School has researched the stories of many of the names inscribed on the base of the Memorial. They tried to find out where the soldiers lived in Brooklyn, their war service and any connections to Brooklyn School. Forty-eight local men were killed in the war, most of whom would have attended the school.
