Kimi Ora School

Next to Thorndon School there is another school called Kimi Ora for special needs students. Kimi Ora was established in 1951 but is relocating to Kilbirnie and Naenae so it can expand it’s roll. The students have been coming over to Thorndon School to work in our classes and learn with us. We really love it and I think the students do also. We always invite the students to come and watch our productions like stage challenge and they really enjoy it! We have a band called KORM that is made up of Kimi Ora students and students from Thorndon School. The band perfomed at Te Papa this year at the Principals Conference! We are really going to miss our association with Kimi Ora but Thorndon School is going to use that space for a bigger playground and more learning spaces.
