Motueka District Museum
Parklands School Junior Syndicate - Kura Tuatahi - Primary
Once it was our school
Our project explores the building and its environment which is situated adjacent to Parklands School and has special significance as it was once our school. It was called the Motueka District High School. We chose this topic because it is close by and it has a very interesting history. It is now the Motueka District Museum. As part of our research we visited the building, its surroundings and interviewed a variety of local people associated with its past and present use.
The four Junior Syndicate classes each chose to focus on a different aspect; Room 10 chose the Millenium Mosaic, Room 11 investigated the mural, Room 9 explored the environment and Room 8 looked at the physical structure.
