Our team
Ngā Puawai is a bilingual unit teaching two languages – English and Māori. It comprises of two classrooms. Room 9 has the tamariki nohinohi from new entrants to year three while Room 10 have the tuakana year three to year six.
Most of the tamariki from Ngā Puawai progress to the senior classes at school for Year 7 and 8. Every Thursday they continue having a Te Reo Māori session to maintain and increase their competency in Te Reo Māori.
The teachers in Ngā Puawai are Cherie Toatoa in Room 9 and Ropene Johnson in Room 10. We are fortunate to have Auntie Lizzy Campbell as our teachers aide who works in both rooms during the day.
All the tamariki worked on this Living Heritage story. The following students
Ngaire-Leigh, Orban, Tai, Arie and Niko were the project managers who imported all the images, matched the text to the appropriate images, referenced other websites and took some of the photographs.
