Environmental focus
At St Anne's we recycle all paper and cardboard. Each class room has a plastic bin into which all used paper and cardboard is placed. We have a recycling team who collects these bins from the classes and tips them into large wheelie bins. The recycling company picks up the bins once a week. We are also part of a 'Paper 4 Trees' programme, where depending on the amount of paper recycling we do, we are given native trees to plant in the school grounds.
We also compost our fruit and vege waste into compost bins. Each class has a bucket that they put food scraps into and the class monitor empties into the compost. Sometimes it can be a bit smelly but the compost is good and full of worms. We spread it on the vegetable garden to feed the plants.
